Trip to Burano, Murano and Torcello
Enjoy a boat trip around the Venetian Lagoon's most famous islands, Burano, Murano and Torcello. On this tour, you'll get an overview of these three jewels of the city in a budget-friendly, stress-free, and comfortable way!
Trip to Burano, Murano and Torcello
We'll depart at the indicated time from a pier in the center of Venice, where we'll board a tourist boat and set sail across the beautiful Venetian Lagoon, towards the most famous and ancient islands in Venice.
During the journey on the boat, we'll admire incredible views of Venice's old quarter while we listen to the multilingual guide share historical tidbits about the area.
Our first stop will be in Murano, possibly the most famous island of the three due to its world-renowned Murano glass-blowing techniques. We'll get the chance to see the inside of a glass workshop and watch a glass-blowing demonstration, showing you how these tiny masterpieces are made following the very same techniques as during the Middle Ages. Afterwards, you'll have a bit of free time to explore a short time on your own.
Continuing on the boat tour, our next stop will be in Burano, one of the most picturesque places the Venetian Lagoon. You'll have free time to walk its narrow streets lined with the famous multi-colored houses that have inspired so many artists. According to legend, the fishermen who originally lived on the island painted them this way so that they could find their way home on foggy days. You'll also have some time to tour the lace shops (or merletto as it's known in Burano) for which the island is also famous.
After that, we'll make our way back to the boat and head to Torcello, the oldest island in the Venetian Lagoon. Our multilingual expert will explain the origin story of this ancient island, which at the height of its splendor was more populated than Venice itself. Today Torcello is a beautiful, peaceful retreat where you can still find its decadent and authentic air. Here you can explore its streets, and visit places such as Attila's Throne and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.
In Torcello, you'll also get the chance to taste the best of Venetian cuisine, as the tour stops at a delicious restaurant on the island. If you'd like, you'll have the option here to purchase a glass of wine accompanied by some cicchetti, typical appetizers from Venice (not included in the tour price).
Finally, at 6 pm we'll return to Venice, concluding the tour at the pier of Santa Lucía or Riva degli Schiavioni, depending on the option you choose upon booking. If you select the option to finish the tour in Santa Lucia, you'll have to pay a supplement of € 5 (US$ 5.50).
Meeting points
Upon booking, you'll be given the option to select between one of the following meeting and finishing points:
- Santa Lucia Pier (Ponte della Costituzione) at 12 pm
